We have developed a long track record of success in Bulgaria, where we operate the Chelopech underground copper-gold and the Ada Tepe open pit gold mine. Since acquiring it in 2003, DPM has transformed Chelopech into a world-class, modern operation. Ada Tepe became the first new mine to commence operations in Bulgaria in over 40 years, following DPM’s highly successful engagement with the Bulgarian government and local stakeholders and the implementation of industry-leading solutions to protect the environment. The operation has been highlighted as a best practice in biodiversity management in a European Commission report, and has helped to revitalize the surrounding community, which has the highest population growth rate in the country as a significant number of residents who had previously immigrated abroad have now returned to the community to live and work.

DPM has had a local and regional presence in Serbia for many years, and has developed strong relationships with the local communities and with the government. The company’s activities are currently focused on exploration at the Čoka Rakita prospect, where DPM made a high-grade gold discovery which was announced in January 2023.
